Hundreds of workers from Carlsberg brewery walked off the job in protest Thursday after newly enforced rules on workplace drinking.
The company’s new alcohol policy allows them to only drink during lunch at the canteen. Under the old policy, workers were free to help themselves to beer from coolers and refrigerators at any time during the workday. The only restriction was, “that you could not be drunk at work.”
Although the company had thought about changing their policy for years, they finally imposed the new rules on April 1st. It caused 800 workers to strike and 250 to walk off their jobs.
